SammamishWashington.com started as a side project — not because anyone asked for it, but because no one else was doing it in a way that felt… human.
Most of the time, if you’re looking for something around here — a park to take the kids, a quiet trail, a decent local event — you either get a city page with half the info you need or a Google review that tells you everything except what you actually want to know. I got tired of that. So I started writing things down myself.
This site is built from experience, not brochures. Every park I write about is one I’ve walked. Every event I mention is one I’ve either attended or heard about from people I trust. And every description is aimed at the person who’s trying to figure out whether it’s worth loading the kids into the car or if it’s just going to be a swing set next to a patch of grass.
Sammamish isn’t a tourist town, and this isn’t a tourism site. It’s a practical, personal guide to the place — meant for people who live here, people thinking about moving here, or people just passing through and wondering what’s actually worth their time.
If you’ve ever searched for something like “best playground near 228th” or “is Beaver Lake crowded in the summer?” and come up empty — this is for you.
It’s not exhaustive. It’s not official. But it’s growing, and it’s honest. And if you’ve got feedback, a correction, or a favorite hidden spot you’re willing to share, I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for being here.
Sincerely,
Kirstie Allie
