The 5 Best Spa Resorts In Washington State (A Man’s Opinion)

Whether it’s a girls’ weekend or a couples retreat, the spas of the Northwest are popular havens for hard-working people who just want to relax in style and enjoy some beautiful scenery as well.

These resorts are usually full-service resorts with lodging, dining, and activities to make your experience extra special. But spa services add a special dimension that offers guests an up-close and personal look at how the Beautiful People stay beautiful.

The pampering you get at a spa resort will relax every muscle in your body. The stress just melts away and, if you partake in some of the natural beauty treatments, you’ll leave the resort with a new, healthy look and quite possibly some very expensive, but effective, beauty products to use at home.

And lest you think this spa stuff is just for the ladies, you’ll want to know that, today, more men are taking advantage of spa services. Oftentimes, couples will enjoy spa services together because, as they say, the couple that spas together stays together. Or something like that.

If you’re considering a trip to a spa in Washington State, here are the options that I’ve really enjoyed when I’ve tagged along.

Rosario Resort

A trip to the islands can be rejuvenating in and of itself but, if you’re looking for the ultimate in relaxation, you’ll want to make a trip to Orcas Island, the home of Rosario Resort.

The resort sits right on Cascade Bay which and provides incredible views on from most places on the property (perfect for a spa…).

The first thing you’ll see when you enter the resort (after winding through miles of private cabins in the trees) is Moran Mansion. This historic centerpiece is a a National Historic Register honored building that is incredible both inside and out.

However, we didn’t come to look at the outside so you’ll be happy to know that they inside houses the Mansion Restaurant and a full-service spa that includes an outdoor pool and whirlpool. The spa also features a sauna, treatment and weight rooms, and a historic indoor therapeutic pool.

Guests at Rosario can sign up for a variety of relaxation and rejuvenation treatments as well as fitness classes.

While there are no accommodations actually in the mansion, Rosario does offer 107 guestrooms and suites spread out over 30 waterfront acres. All rooms offer water views, with most located directly on the water.

And, if you’re a history buff that loves historic hotels, you’ll enjoy visiting the Moran Mansion Museum with its treasure trove of Northwest nautical history.

Suncadia

Suncadia Resort is located near Cle Elum, right in the center of our state along Interstate 90. The resort is actually a few miles back from the interstate where it takes advantage of a 6,000-acre forested landscape. This part of the Wenatchee National Forest is popular with travelers.

In addition to luxury accommodations, Suncadia offers a full gamut of treatment options at its Glade Spring Spa. Among the includes services are: massages, bodywork, facials, and couples’ spa treatments.

The facilities extend far beyond the spa rooms themselves, however, and include four hot outdoor mineral baths with nearby meandering creeks, relaxing saunas, natural walking paths, and fireside areas. The resort also has a long list of supplementary amenities and activities that you would expect from any major resort property.

Willows Lodge

The perfect place for a spa getaway is the wine country of Woodinville, Washington, less than a half-hour’s drive from downtown Seattle. And right there in downtown Woodinville is the Willows Lodge, a popular hotel that has an award-winning restaurant and an extensive wine cellar.

It’s a Northwest-style lodge in an area known for local color and scenery, and it also has a first-class spa. They say the Spa at Willows Lodge is a mini-vacation for body, mind, and spirit, and the lodge puts together several special spa packages that are sure to impress.

For example, the Girlfriends Getaway includes your accommodations, two mimosas to enjoy in the spa, a spa credit, valet parking, and a Fireside Lounge credit, all for a nominal price.

Most of the rooms and suites at the Willows have fireplaces and deep soaking tubs and the outdoor gardens and walkways also give the Willows Lodge an extra-special feel.

And, of course, the dozens of wineries very close by will help make it a fun-packed spa weekend.

Semiahmoo Resort

Semiahmoo Resort is located on a spit near Blaine Washington close to the Canadian border. One major magazine said Semiahmoo is the “Northwest’s best resort.”

This place has Northwest written all over it — that location on the spit means you’ll enjoy gorgeous views of the sea, and of the mountains. It’s a ways out of Blaine and feels more isolated than it actually is, which is the perfect atmosphere for a major resort.

Semiahmoo has lots of amenities and activities and the Spa at Semiahmoo is one of the best ways to relax and just rejuvenate yourself. The tranquil location puts you in the mood and then the resort’s technicians go to work to help relieve the stress of everyday life.

The spa offers massages and high-quality Eminence skin-care products. Services at the spa are affordable. One example is the Spring Awakening which is a full-body raw sugar exfoliation that nourishes your skin with antioxidants and deep hydration — all for around a hundred bucks.

Sleeping Lady Resort

The North Central Washington village of Leavenworth attracts thousands of tourists each week to its enchanting mountain views and Bavarian storefronts. And, in recent years, the Aspen Leaf Day Spa has been added to the considerable list of local attractions.

The spa is part of the Sleeping Lady Resort, a legendary place to stay here in the Northwest. Sleeping Lady is located just a few miles from downtown, out where the mountain views of Leavenworth are most spectacular. The place has quite a history.

The site was once known as Camp Icicle when the Civilian Conservation Corps was located there in the 30s. And before it became a resort, it was a Catholic retreat known as Camp Field. Today the site’s original 18 buildings are incorporated into 67 acres of lodging, resort amenities, and natural landscaping.

The Aspen Leaf Day Spa offers a range of holistic services and blends right in with the resort’s back-to-nature surroundings.

The spa is also known for its signature Jade treatments which have been used for thousands of years to preserve and maintain skin tone and strengthen the immune system (ymmv).

Conclusion

In conclusion, Washington State has some of the best spa resorts in the country. At least in my unqualified opinion. If you disagree, feel free to just not come to the PNW, we’re full anyway.

For those of you who are still interested, however, you’ll be able to find just about anything you want here, even outside the big city. Whether you’re looking for a weekend escape or just a day of rest and relaxation, any of the 5 that we’ve talked about here are sure to please. So if none of them jumped out at you, just roll a die! You won’t be dissapointed!
